I've been creating landing pages with dedicated landing page builders for a shade over six years now.
When I started out, I only just about knew what a landing page was, and what they were used for…
…let alone how to create one of my own!
Landing page builders can be damn hard to get the best out of!
But, they've come a long way in the last few years.
The learning curve is no longer as steep, or as long as it used to be.
And the end results are now much better!
First though, for those totally new to this, a very brief definition:
What Even Is A Landing Page?
A landing page is simply a web page that has a very specific, well-defined purpose.
It is stripped of all distractions and options such as menus and links to other pages of your website.
A landing page should be entirely focused on driving visitors to a certain desired action…your conversion goal.
It is the page where you direct potential customers with the hope of converting them into buyers, or subscribers or members…
…or whatever else you might want to convert your visitors into!
Good landing pages are well optimised to maximise conversions.
Sales pages, opt-in pages, webinar registration pages…these are all page types that you should be creating dedicated landing pages for.
What Is A Landing Page Builder?
Simply a bit of software to help you easily create effective landing pages that will increase your conversions.
Zero coding skills required!

My Top 6 Landing Page Builders:
#1. Instapage
The Instapage builder is an unbelievably powerful bit of kit.
And you genuinely need zero previous page building skills to use Instapage very successfully.
The combination of ease of use, powerful features and professional finish make Instapage suitable for all level of internet marketers.
It doesn't matter whether you're a kitchen table blogger, e-commerce site owner or design agency professional, you will get massive value out of this landing page builder.
The software is so intuitive to use, you can have your first landing page built and working in under 30 minutes.
Features & Benefits:
- Easy to use and totally intuitive
- Drag and drop builder (that actually works)
- Robust and completely stable page builder
- Over 200 pre-built templates
- A/B testing and conversion analytics
- Heatmaps
- Easy integration with all major email service providers
- Easy integration with WordPress
- Landing pages have a professional look and feel
- Dynamic custom code editing
My Rating: #1
Instapage enables you to create beautiful, professional, mobile-responsive landing pages with absolutely no coding skills.
It takes less than 10 minutes to set-up and is possibly the most user friendly and intuitive landing page builder that I have used.
But it's not just a pretty face.
Sure, it's great to be able to create a great looking landing page, but it's all for nothing if it doesn't convert well.
On my own sites, I've seen conversion rates increase by 400%+ since switching over to Instapage.
I mostly put this conversion increase down to Instapage's heatmaps function, which has enabled me to see where visitors are focusing on each landing page, and then adjusting them where needed.

#2. Unbounce
Unbounce is another incredibly powerful piece of landing page building software!
The only reason it's not in the number one spot is because I reckon Instapage is easier to get up and running with.
But if you are prepared to spend a bit more time getting used to the landing page creator software, I believe Unbounce offers a bit more depth and quality over the long-run.
Unbounce was one of the first landing page software providers…and it's still one of the very best!
This is a well-established name in the landing page market.
But just because they've been around for a long time, doesn't mean they've rested on the laurels.
Unbounce offer one of the best and most easy to use landing page builders on the market today…in my opinion!
Features & Benefits:
- Easy to use
- Fully customisable
- Drag and drop builder
- 75 conversion optimised templates
- A/B testing
- Analytics tool
- Fast loading
- Easy integration with all major email service providers
- Easy integration with WordPress
- Landing pages have a professional look and feel
My Rating: #2
Unbounce is highly customisable and you will get a fully professional look to all of your landing pages with their software.
For me, when I first started using it, I didn't found it as easy to use and intuitive as Instapage.
The Unbounce landing page templates are well optimised for conversions, so while it may take a little longer to get used to than Instapage, you'll get great results once you're up to speed.
Provider/Owner: Unbounce

Price: ‘Launch Plan' @ $74/mo if paid annually, $99/mo if paid monthly

#3. Leadpages
I used to absolutely hate Leadpages!
It was the first landing page builder I ever used.
It was clunky, glitchy, totally unstable…
…and subsequently, a total pain up the backside to use.
But, wow, how things have changed!
I recently signed-up to Leadpages again, because I wanted to take it for a full test-drive so that I could write up a review about it.
I was expecting to be massively underwhelmed, but far from it.
The Leadpages software had clearly undergone a total transformation.
It was like bumping into someone you once dumped, and they're now looking hotter than hell.
Just about the only thing that hasn't changed that much is the pricing.
Some how Leadpages have massively increased the functionality and usability of their product…
…while only marginally increasing their pricing.
Features & Benefits:
- Drag and drop builder
- 200+ page templates
- Easy integration with all major email service providers
- Integration with WordPress
- Landing pages have a professional look and feel
- Good lead capture forms function
- Super-fast load times
My Rating: #3
This is the lead page builder that I started out with a few years back.
Even though i used to spend hours fighting with it, It served it's purpose for me at the time, because the price was right.
But now, the price is still right for most solopreneurs, but the product is also great.
Win. Win. Win.
Provider/Owner: LeadPages

#4. GetResponse
GetResponse have been growing seriously rapidly over the last couple of years.
And their growth is understandable when you take a look at the quality and pricing of their offer.
This is an easy-to-use landing page solution that will enable even the newest of internet marketers to create high-converting, mobile responsive landing pages.
True, GetResponse is an all-in-one marketing suite, which I don't tend to have that much love for…
…but, the landing page builder function is still great, and comes in at a very achievable price.
Features & Benefits:
- Easy set-up
- Easy to use
- Drag and drop builder
- 150+ conversion optimised templates
- A/B testing
- Analytics tool
- Easy integration with all major email service providers

#5. Thrive Architect
Thrive Architect is an impressive bit of kit from the equally impressive and dedicated people over at Thrive Themes.
This one is a little bit different to most other landing page builders in that it comes as a WordPress plugin.
And it works absolutely beautifully.
Just about every element of your new landing page is customisable with Thrive Architect.
I've built whole websites using Thrive Architect so I'm confident in saying that it's an absolute breeze to use.

#6. Wishpond
Wishpond is another provider that offers a lot more than just landing page building software.
They offer landing pages, website popups, forms, contests and promotions, marketing automation, email marketing…plus other stuff!
Similar to GetResponse, this range of online marketing services make it an attractive option for those new to online marketing.
Features & Benefits:
- Easy to use (not as intuitive as some)
- Customisable (mostly)
- Drag and drop builder
- Optimised templates
- A/B testing (not in Starter plan)
- Analytics
- Easy integration with all major email service providers
- Easy integration with WordPress
- Landing pages have a professional look and feel
My Rating: #6
I sometimes found the Wishpond landing page editor a little bit clunky and unresponsive which made for a slightly frustrating experience.
That little niggle aside, once you get going it is fairly easy to put good-looking landing pages together.
Provider/Owner: Wishpond
Website Quote: “Wishpond’s intuitive landing page builder makes it easy to get more leads and sales from your website“
Price: $49 per month for the ‘Starter' plan, or $99 per month for the ‘Everything' plan.
What Are The Advantages Of Using A Landing Page Builder?
Here are a few benefits of using landing page builders, rather than trying to build out your own landing pages from scratch:
1. Built in A/B Testing
There is very little point in committing to building landing pages if you don't also commit to A/B testing on an ongoing basis.
You must keep an accurate record of exactly which element changes produce either a rise or a fall in your conversion rates.
Each and every element, every seemingly tiny tweak can produce massively different results. If you aren't split-testing they will be very hard to pinpoint.
Thankfully, the vast majority of landing page builders make it super easy to do exactly this through built-in functionality.
2. Results Focused
It is in the best interests of all of the landing page builder providers to create pre-built templates that have solid conversion rates.
They are constantly testing and evolving their offering, committing resources to producing high-converting landing pages that most of us could only imagine.
The best landing page builders have such a depth of knowledge behind them that you can be certain all of your pages will be results focused.
3. Ease of Use
Not only do you not have to know how to code, but most landing page builders are now offering drag-and-drop functionality.
If you can point and click, you can now build your own beautiful landing pages.
If you love coding your own pages from scratch this will be of no interest to you, but I'd rather be with 99% of the population who like to get out in the daylight now and again, and opt for a landing page builder every time.
4. Template Designs
Your landing pages must be visually attractive, keep readers hooked, and they must convert.
Pretty much all landing page builders offer a vast array of pre-built, niche specific, landing page templates ready for you to tweak to your liking and deploy.
This results a massive time saving, not to mention better rates of visitor conversions.
5. Third-Party Integrations
Your landing pages are going to need to play nicely with any of the other software that connects with your funnel.
Your email software is an obvious one for most people.
Landing page builders know this and provide integrations with almost every prominent software tool that you have likely heard of.
6. Publishing Options
Flexible publishing options are what you need and flexible publishing options is exactly what you get when you sign-up with any of the top landing page builders.
Increasingly the best providers are also offering subdomains to users.
Subdomains allow you to manage your landing pages separately from your root domain while presenting a consistent domain to prospects and customers.
FAQ's
Do you need to have a website, to have a landing page?
No, you don’t need to have a website in order to have a landing page. All of the tools in this list enable you to create a standalone page without having to own a website.
Try this post if you want to find out more: ‘How To Create a Landing Page Without a Website‘.
What is the difference between a landing page and a website?
Landing pages are created with the sole intention of converting the traffic driven to them by your marketing campaigns. A landing page exists only to convert a visitor into a lead. There are a number of differences between a landing page vs website.
Should my landing pages be indexed?
It depends. There are good reasons why you would want to index your long-term landing pages, and there are also good reasons why you might want to hide some of your landing pages from search. There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this one.
How do I get people to my landing pages?
You will need to use a number of different digital marketing tactics. These include email marketing campaigns, PPC ads, social media ads, influencer marketing, etc.
Are there any good quality free landing page builders available?
No.
Are there any more affordable landing page builders available? That are still good?
Yes there are a few pretty decent, affordable landing page builders out there. You will probably find that you're giving up some level of functionality…but hey, everything's a trade-off!
Best Landing Page Builders – Wrapping It Up!
When it comes to landing page creators, it really is well worth taking the time to sign-up to the free trials where available.
There is a world of difference between providers as to the general usability of the software.
Really get stuck in and battle test the product when you're trialing it.
In my opinion, if you're just starting out and want to get out of the blocks quickly, I'd go for Instapage.
I personally believe that what's on offer at Instapage and the overall usability of the software make it the best option for anyone new to creating landing pages.
But that said, both GetResponse and Unbounce don't come far behind in my eyes.
GetResponse is very easy to use and is part of a wider pack of great online marketing tools.
Unbounce is outstanding but I reckon it's more suitable to those with a bit more experience in using this type of software, or who are maybe a little more tech minded.
